Branding your envato item

We all Envato authors expect to increase our product’s sale to higher numbers. Sometimes we may get confused to follow a strong business strategy to win over the marketplaces.

Here I am sharing some useful notes on my personal experience and research on envato market.

-Have a Dedicated website : Convert visitors into customers
Create and maintain your branded website in such a way, that turns your anonymous website visitor to a potential buyer. Look at some top rated envato author’s website :
They organize their website in a manner that buyers won’t think about “Should i purchase from author X or not”. Rather than, those websites create impression to them “Which items should i purchase from author X”.

-Fantastic Envato product page is a must
It is sorry to say that many authors of our country do enough hard work for the item only, so product page sometimes remain casual / un-attractive. Be sure, It is must to have a meaningful, beautiful descriptive product page to get your expected sale.

-Company creates stronger impression than a freelancer
Yes, it is true. Buyers get much more faith on a company/team rather than a single freelancer. So even if you work alone, make your online representation as a company. It can be the envato account name, your company site/domain name and everything.

-Organize own profile page
Your envato profile page is your identity. So make a smart design of it, with a meaningful cover picture and logo. It will represent perfectly about you as well as your company.

-Unified product logo of your items
Keep your items' logos in a unified format, any simple or gorgeous design can be acceptable. So whenever a new item of your's come into marketplace, people will recognize your name at first look. Same for the search result. Customer's will point to your item's icon at first look, if they are unified in a common format. Look here : http://themeforest.net/user/Kriesi/portfolio

-Video tutorials
Try to create some tutorial screencast videos of your items. A video will surely present better your item than just text / image description. Host those videos in your youtube channel. Moreover youtube will automatically bring more and more visitors to your product page. Some product promo video making after effects template from videohive may inspire you : http://bit.ly/1GeUaym

-Go social
Have facebook fan page, twitter page of product or by company name. Maintain and publish your item features on a regular basis from those networks. It will give customers much more faith on purchasing your item.

-Google adword, facebook ad : it's not a burden actually
Spent some money regularly for online advertising. Mostly popular google and facebook ads. No need to invest them from your pocket. Cut a little amount from your monthly revenue and continue some online ad regularly. For example, if your avg monthly revenue is $1000, instead of withdrawing them all, create some google/facebook ad for $100. Next month, it can increase your revenue upto $1500! Yes, it's that simple.

-Followup your item analytics
Check your item analytics tab regularly. It shows the visitor amount of your product page. If the chart shows below average value abnormally, surely you need to take some extra care to increase your visitor rate. Sometimes, simple update of item or simple changes in product page / product banner creates better impression to customers.

-Protect your item from piracy
Google your item named 'X' like this : "Free download X" or "X free download", now try to lookup your items illegally distributed in file sharing site’s like rapidshare,zippyshare,4shared etc and lot’s more. Send DMCA notice to those site webmasters for taking them down. Here is a guideline how to send DMCA report and remove files shared outside envato : https://help.market.envato.com/hc/en-us/articles/202501584-Protecting-your-copyright-
Also there are lot’s of popular blogs where envato items are distributed illegally.

-Catch the sites, those are pirating your valuable items
You can check which sites are referring to your product page analytics tab. Go to your item page > Analytics tab > Referrals section. Check all those sites, who are referring your product page. Watch them carefully, some of them may distributing your items illegally. Just send a DMCA to those sites.

-Enterprise level support
Beyond regular email support and product page’s comment support, it will be a plus point if you can have a separate support forum or support ticket system to give enterprise level support to your buyers. Definitely it will increase much more customers as well as buyers of your items. Look at number 1 envato author Kriesi’s website : http://www.kriesi.at/about . Look at number 1 wp theme avada’s developer’s website : http://theme-fusion.com/about/ . All they have dedicated support staffs. So that makes the difference with others.

-Never challenge buyers, never
Don’t show your attitude towards your potential customers in a way that: “Buy my product or get lost, I don’t care”. If then, you will loose those future buyers and even your past buyers too.

-Set your self in a position of customer of your items
Whatever types of envato author you are- designer, coder or else, it is your business. So set yourself in a position of buyer and judge your items, company or branding. Should you purchase your items ? If, then why, and if not, then why not.

-Take full control of your account with envato extra
Envato community providing and updating awesome tools regularly in Envato extra site. You will love them for sure to use through your devices all over. http://extras.envato.com/

-Followup the envato forums regularly
Keep a look at the envato forum http://codecanyon.net/forums regularly. There are discussed all trending things always. Stay updated with envato community. You will get the best output knowing the latest trends. For example, at each year end, Giant envato authors discuss in forum what will be the next year design trends and decide their next year's work policies. Look at this example : http://themeforest.net/forums/thread/trendwatch-2014-/116450

Personally I like Steve Job's methodology. He produced the best quality and put a higher price of his incredible products. People got challenged but couldn't resist of purchasing them.

So Keep working hard until you are satisfied.
Don't just run behind money. Work for the best quality. Surely that will reward you beyond your imagination. Good luck with sales!
